International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day nail art

*Nothing to disclose

Today is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. I’ve never commemorated it before on my nails, but this year I really wanted to make sure I did. As a relatively new mum, I’m extremely fortunate to have my son in my life. I look at him every day and think the world’s just that little bit better for him being in it. I know a small handful of people who have experienced loss now. So I think it’s lovely this day exists for everyone to honour babies who have died from miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death.

During October, Theresa, of Grace-full Nail Polish, encourages everyone to paint their nails blue and pink to show support and raise awareness of International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. You can participate too by using the hashtags #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness and #waveofpolish. She also hosts an auction of nail polish (now closed) that raises funds for Sands, the miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death charity in Australia. Theresa’s auction raises a lot of much-needed funds for this great cause. Read on for more details of my nails.

I wanted something simple and I think I got that. Using a base of Femme Fatale Heart of the Mountain, I then used some nail art tape to mark off the top of my nails – a bit like how you’d do French tips. I then applied a couple of coats of SinfulColors Cinderella and while it was drying, I added two pink studs to each nail. I then applied a coat of Seche Vite. I think all the colours work well together and I must admit, I’m impressed that I didn’t stuff up applying the nail art tape straight across my nail. I always seem to apply it wrong!

This design was lovely to wear and I received a few compliments on how it looked, which was nice. I also realised I hadn’t worn a light blue polish in ages, so I thought I’d have to pull another one out soon, especially since pastel colours look so good in spring. I would love to hear if you commemorated International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on your nails. Let me know – or even better, show me! Thanks for reading!
