Sportsgirl Nail It! White Icing & studs nail art

Evening! Usually I like to bring you a nail polish and then add some nail art to it afterwards but as soon as I put Sportsgirl Nail It! White Icing on I knew I wanted to add an accent nail that captured the fluro colours. White Icing is a gorgeous polish from Sportsgirl that I picked up when I bought Chunky Fluro. This one has glitters in a creamy white base though, rather than it being just a glitter topper. Oh how I am loving glitters in white bases!

What you see below is two coats of White Icing with Seche and two coats of MODE Love Me with some neon studs I bought off eBay topped with Seche. I did a post about the studs here, if you want some more info. The formula of White Icing was pretty good. I was a bit nervous the second coat would cancel out the neon bits from the first coat, but it didn’t at all, it had a really good level of opacity (or transparency?). The neon glitters themselves are small pink hexes, medium green hexes and blue bars. Simple – yet effective – and looks like icing! I just realised I should do some cupcake nail art with it. Why didn’t I think of that earlier?

MODE Love Me was again difficult to photograph – in real life it looks much more fluro. Removal of White Icing was easy – I just used cotton buds for a few minutes, but if you used the foil method it would go faster.

Sportsgirl Nail It! Chunky Fluro

Hiya! Tonight I have for you Chunky Fluro, another great find from Sportsgirl. What I can’t get over with this polish is how much of an indie it looks. I mean, doesn’t this just remind you of Polish Me Silly (formerly Lush Lacquer) Clowning Around? I think so.

Anywho, Chunky Fluro is – as the name suggests – a polish with chunky fluro hexes and squares through it of different shapes and sizes. The colours are blue, pink, green and red. Like all my Sportsgirl polishes I found application to be a breeze. The photos below show two dabbed coats over ulta3 Citrus on my pointer finger and middle finger and then two dabbed coats over ulta3 White Lily on my ring finger and pinky.

I really love this for summer, it’s such a fun look I think. I wore it to work though and it was a tad too bright. I think it looks better over white than over yellow, you get to see all the colours better. Have a great weekend guys and thanks for reading!

Sportsgirl Nail It! Speckled Mint

Hello! Today I have to show you the second Sportsgirl Nail It! polish I picked up more than a week back. The first one I showed is called Speckled Lilac, which I showed you here.  Like Speckled Lilac, Speckled Mint is a creme base with glitter in it. It’s pretty much a dupe for Speckled Lilac, except that Speckled Mint is a green base (I am confusing myself with the two similar names!).

This polish has a very summery feel to it, which I think I mentioned with Speckled Lilac, so I find it strange Sportsgirl has released it in the middle of winter. Maybe for like me it doesn’t care about what gets worn when? Speckled Mint the exact same multi-coloured square glitters of blue, red, yellow and green and teeny tiny purple-ish/pink-ish iridescent glitter like Speckled Lilac and is opaque in two coats. Did Sportsgirl say, “Hey! This looks great. Why not make it both lilac and mint? But let’s not change the glitter”.

Just like Speckled Lilac, I had no problems with Speckled Mint’s removal. So, what do you think of Speckled Mint? Too much like Speckled Lilac? Thanks for reading!

Sportsgirl Nail It! Speckled Lilac

Hiya! Over the weekend I stopped by Sportsgirl to see if it had any new polishes. Turns out I must psychic as it had four new polishes that I could see. I got two, Speckled Lilac and Speckled Mint, as they were creme bases with glitter in them, while the other two were clear bases with glitter. The one that I remember is just your average multi-coloured glitter in a clear base. As you can tell the other two weren’t groundbreaking.

But the two I did get are really lovely. Today I’ll just show you Speckled Lilac. It’s only going first because it’s purple, ha ha.

How pretty is it!? I love the shade of purple, it’s definitely on the spot with the name lilac. As I mentioned before, Speckled Lilac is a purple creme base with multi-coloured square glitters of blue, red, yellow and green and teeny tiny purple-ish/pink-ish iridescent glitter. In the photo above the polish looks a bit matte, but I can assure you it’s sparkly when in the light. I used two coats to achieve what you see here.

In some ways, this is an odd polished to be released in winter as it’s such a summer colour. But I love wearing colour during winter, it shakes things up so much, especially at my workplace. Oh, and removal was a cinch too with this, the little glitters didn’t stick at all.

So, have you been in Sportsgirl recently? Notice any other new polishes? Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading!
