July What’s In-die Box? swatches – Glam Polish, Lilypad Lacquer, Mckfresh Nail Attire, Shades of Phoenix & Peita’s Polish

Hello! Tonight I bring you my swatches and review of the July What’s In-die Box. I showed you me receiving this wonderful nail mail yesterday along with my first impressions. All you need to know beforehand is What’s In-die Box? is a collection of five Australian indie nail polishes following the theme of Little Miss series. So let’s get the swatches started!

This is two coats without top coat. I found the formula to be watery and first it seems a bit sheer but it’s fine after the second coat. It is a purple base with iridescent glitters and neon pink, green and silver squares. The suspension base must be of a poor quality though as I had to use an ear bud to try and move some stuck glitters from the side of the bottle. I think this polish is meant to be way more sparkly but I had a hard time digging for the glitter and then placing it in the few spots I was able to.

This is two coats over one coat of Revlon Dreamer, a beautiful sky blue creme without top coat. It’s blue, pink and yellow matte glitter in a clear base. I ‘dabbed’ this polish on, because I found it I didn’t, the glitters would drag to the free edge of my nail. I think this is a great topper, but it would be hard to achieve opacity I think.

Err, there was also a slight technical error with the bottle when I went to open it today – the lid was stuck! I tried putting it under hot water to unstick it so that’s why some of the paper label has come off. Oh well. The content’s still good!

This is two coats over one coat of Beauty Attitude Envy without top coat. Clear base with blue and green iridescent glitters and light green hexes, dark green squares, yellow hexes and large pink hexes. I had to fish out and place the pink hexes as well as some of the yellow hexes.

This is two coats without top coat. A pastel blue base with pink and blue iridescent glitters, pink and blue dots and black and silver squares! The formula on this is wonderful – it self-levelled very well. It dries a bit dull, but a good top coat sorts that out and makes it pop – that’s what the last photo is of, Little Miss Bad with top coat.

Two coats without top coat. A sheer purple base with iridescent glitters and large pink dots, large white rectangles, black hexes and black bar glitter. I found this to be a very watery formula. I also had to fish and place the rectangles and some of the pink dots. While the base it sheer, I like the look of it at two coats.

What’s In-die Box? is an idea by Glam Polish and I love the idea that every month I can get five unique indie polishes. It’s a subscription box without the subscription, if that makes sense. August’s theme is the movie Wreck It Ralph (I’ve never heard of it) and the participating indie polishes are Glam Polish, Lilypad Lacquer, Peita’s Polish, Gloss ‘n Sparkle and Sayuri Nail Lacquer. I’ve never had a Sayuri Nail Lacquer before. Dang now I want the August box too! I’m think I’m hooked… Thanks for reading!

Australis Frisky Feathers & July What’s In-die Box?

Evening! So today I have to show you Australis Frisky Feathers. But before I do, I got the most amazing nail mail: my July What’s In-die Box?!

July What's In-die Box? by Dry, Dammit!

Don’t they look gorgeous? This month is inspired by the Little Miss series (which I am actually not a fan of… I hate the honourific Miss). It’s a really colourful collection. In case you’re not aware, What’s In-die Box? is a subscription box that features five unique Australian indies every month. It really is a great idea. Below I have some bottle shots and my first impressions. I will be swatching them for you over the weekend.

Clear base with blue and green iridescent glitters and light green hexes, dark green squares, yellow hexes and large pink hexes. I am very impressed with this polish. Such a surprise from Lilypad Lacquer.

Now, moving on from the What’s In-die Box? and onto Australia Frisky Feathers. I stumbled upon this polish yesterday at my local Priceline. It featured in a larger Rockstar Collection display, but when I searched the internet I couldn’t find anything on this collection, not even on the Australis website. But I took a pic of it in my local Priceline just to prove it actually exists!

As you can see from the photo, there are four polishes with this collection. One is a black creme, one is Frisky Feathers and the other two are more generic multi-coloured glitters, which I didn’t think were all too impressive, hence why I didn’t buy them, ha ha.

Frisky Feathers is a clear base with orange and gold small bar glitters, very similar to the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Collection (I showed you All Yarned Up here). Actually, incredibly similar except sparklier, if that is even a word.

I decided to layer Frisky Feathers over one coat of Models Prefer Little Black Dress to replicate the look I assumed Australis wanted people to wear when they popped a black creme in with three glitters. It looked awesome. What you see is two coats of Frisky Feathers over one coat of Models Prefer Little Black Dress. I found the application to be easy, but I would suggest not getting any of the bar glitters to hit your free edge – it’s just annoying when it dries and scratches your clothes!
