My second post in one day! I must have missed blogging, ha ha. But I wanted to quickly show you more goodness from Celestial Cosmetics: the March 2017 LEs. These LEs are inspired by the film Dirty Dancing and yes, I’ve had the song Hungry Eyes in my head pretty much this whole month.
Here’s the inspiration picture for the polishes (as voted by the members of Celestial’s Stars Facebook group. If you’re not a member, I highly recommend joining!).

BE MY BABY
Be My Baby is a simple, but classic, deep pink creme. If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere and getting amped up for summer, then I think you’ll love wearing this colour. This is two easy coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
HUNGRY EYES
Hungry Eyes is a pink-based jelly packed with colour-shifting flakes. The flakes payoff is brilliant, it coats really well and the polish doesn’t look sheer at all. I wore this all week and got many compliments on how it looks, so I think it’ll be a go-to polish for many. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year. On my ring finger though I have one coat over two coats of Be My Baby with a top coat of Light Year. I think it looks great both ways.
I’m not really sure how to start this post, given my long absence from blogging. Pretty much four months! That’s a new record for me. I guess I’ll try to keep my story short and sweet because I have the March 2017 releases from Celestial Cosmetics to show you, which are way more fun to read about.
Put simply, there’s been a few things that got me down at the place I work and this happened at the same time as finding out my husband and I are expecting our second child (due July!). This combo pretty much just made me feel crappy both mentally and physically and I became super antisocial; even social media I found difficult to use. But I’m feeling a lot better now and I appreciate all the love and support those nearest and dearest to me have provided.
One of those people is the ever-wonderful Nicki, owner and creator over at Celestial Cosmetics. She’s been very supportive and just let me have my own time to get back into the swing of things, which is why I’m here today, to show off the wonderful new array of colours from Celestial for March. Let’s take a look!
PRIMAL FEAR
Primal Fear is a purple-based creme with a golden shimmer. I also found up close some sparks of red, which just makes this even more complex! I love how it looks and the formula is perfect. Pictured is two coats without top coat.
EYE OF ENVY
Eye of Envy is a green jelly-based polish with colour-shifting flakes and colour-shifting iridescent microglitter. I like the look of Eye of Envy out and about rather than indoors because that’s when all the glitter comes to play. This is three thin coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
ANDROID TEARS
Android Tears is a soft purple-leaning grey creme with pink to violet colour-shifting shimmer. This is such a soft and delicate polish. It also is a nice variation of a neutral polish, if you have a workplace or occasion to consider. This is two coats without top coat.
TWISTED SELECTION
Twisted Selection is a blue-to-purple duochrome. The formula was easy to work with, but of course I still managed to leave some brush strokes in, so keep an eye our for that when you’re applying and don’t go too heavy-handed like me! This is two coats without a top coat.
MESMERISED
I found Mesmerised so difficult to capture! I ended up taking the shots indoors, otherwise the glitter seemed to disappear in the harsh sun. Mesmerised is a dark blue-based jelly polish packed with iridescent colour-shifting glitter. The glitter is really pretty in this one – I can see how Nicki thought of the name! You’ll need a thick top coat for this one as it does eat the top coat! Also, wear a good base coat because it can stain and there’s nothing worse than blue “natural” nails! I’m wearing three thin coats with a generous top coat of Light Year.
WALK OF SHAME
Walk of Shame is another stunning duochrome, which looks quite coppery but then shifts between gold, orange and a rusty red. Up close it has these stunning pinkish sparks and I think it would be a really complimentary polish for most people. This is two coats without top coat.
Cost: Ranging from AU$11 (US$10) and AU$12 (US$11)
Volume: 12ml
Coats to opacity: See individual polish descriptions above
So, what do you think? The standouts for me are Android Tears and Walk of Shame. I mean, who doesn’t love a good shimmer or duochrome? Thanks for sticking with me these past few months and as always, thanks for reading! It’s great to be back.
Me again – bringing you the second trio from Celestial Cosmetics in time for Halloween (the first being The Curse of Miss Ives Collection). The Halloween Story Trio Collection is named so because the three names of the polishes create a short story. These polishes are very Halloween appropriate, so if you love themed polishes, get comfy and read on!
SINISTER SQUASHLING
Sinister Squashling is a neon orange jelly with a gold overlay, colour-shifting sparks and black holo microglitter. It’s perfect for the base of pumpkins or even just on its own for the big day. It’s very bright and I’ve also learnt recently it glows under UV lighting. Awesome much? Formula was wonderful and what you see here is two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
CHASES THE FAIRY
Chases The Fairy is a neon green jelly with black shred glitter. This one also reacts to UV light. In my pictures it looks like there’s a blue tinge to the colour but I think it’s just my camera not being able to handle the intensity of the neon green. Formula on this one was good too and the shred glitter played nicely. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
INTO THE BLOOD WOODS
Into The Blood Woods is a teal-based jelly with cherry microglitter and rose gold flakes. This is my favourite from the trio as it’s so much more detailed than what you’d expect. The formula on this one is perfect but it did stain my nails so you’ll need to wear a good base coat underneath. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
Cost: AU$10 or US$9 (with each polish discounted by 10% for the first 48 hours of their release)
Volume: 12ml
Coats to opacity: See individual polish descriptions above
Like The Curse of Miss Ives Collection, you can pick them up from tomorrow (25 September in Australia and 24 September at the international store). These are a lot of fun and I think there’s plenty to do with them come Halloween. Thanks for reading!
Hiya! Today I bring you one of the trios from Celestial Cosmetics in time for Halloween, as well as the September LE. The trio is called The Curse Of Miss Ives and is a collaboration between Nicki (the mastermind behind Celestial) and her social media maven, Jacq. I love the name of the trio, which is inspired by a character of the TV show Penny Dreadful named Vanessa Ives. The polishes are inspired by Vanessa’s costumes worn in the show.
The September LE 2016 is at the end, so read on for more!
SEANCE
Seance is a deep purple linear holo with gold shimmer. The formula on this one was truly fabulous – buttery and self-levelling. The gold really does stand out in person, so if you like gold polishes you’d probably really like this as a unique polish to add to your stash. This is my favourite from the collection; it’s such a stunner. Pictured is two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
LITTLE SCORPION
Little Scorpion is a black-based scattered holo with silver flakes and black holo microglitter. I love the intricate colours of this one up close! We need more black holos in our lives. Plus, the formula was smooth and easy, which is always a good thing. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
DEMIMONDE
Demimonde is a soft grey linear holo. The grey is very faint and you’ll need to get a good light to see the holo. The formula on this one was a bit sheer (yet manageable) and you’ll most likely need three coats like me. This is three coats with a top coat of Light Year.
SEPTEMBER LE 2016
The September LE 2016 is based on the flower the morning glory (inspiration picture below). The picture was chosen in the Celestial’s Stars Facebook group; if you haven’t joined I recommend you do! It’s a lot of fun in there. Nicki used the centre of the flower for inspiration, which translated to a bright magenta pink holo base with purple, blue and indigo flakes. I love, love, love this polish! I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
Cost: AU$12 or US$11 (with each polish discounted by 10% for the first 48 hours of their release)
Volume: 12ml
Coats to opacity: See individual polish descriptions above
If you like the look of any of these polishes – good news! They’re available from tomorrow (25 September in Australia and 24 September at the international store). If you can pick up Seance or the September LE 2016 I highly recommend it. Thanks for reading!
Hi there. Tonight I bring you swatches and my thoughts on the Celestial Cosmetics Love Never Dies Collection, which launches tomorrow on both the Australian and international Celestial sites. It’s inspired by the costumes from the 1992 movie Bram Stoker’s Dracula and is a collaboration collection for Nicki’s birthday (the maker behind Celestial). Every birthday Nicki does a collaboration collection and this year it’s with one of her good friends. Read on for more!
THE DEVIL’S CONCUBINE
The Devil’s Concubine is a stunning orange linear holo that has a gorgeous flame. It’s my favourite from the collection and inspired by the vibrant orange clothes the character Lucy Westenra once she’s a vampire. It was so smooth to apply and I really think this would make an awesome summer polish – especially on the toes! I’m becoming more and more a fan of orange so I was pretty pleased this vibrant colour was included in the collection. This is just two easy coats with one coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
THE BRIDES
The Brides is a dark gold base with gold colour-shifting flakes and green shimmer. This one’s based on the clothes of the brides of Dracula. It looks like it would be a bit bumpy once applied, but it was actually so smooth. It reminds me of a pot of gold. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
THE BLOOD IS THE LIFE
The Blood Is The Life – wowsers! Look at that intense red. I can definitely see blood here; can you? This has a slight duochrome effect, going from a dark red to a copper. It’s quite a slight shift, but I think I was able to capture it well. The inspiration behind this one is drawn from the battle armour Prince Vlad wears, the gown Mina wears when she dines with the Count and the blood Dracula requires to remain alive. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
GOD’S MADMEN
God’s Madmen is a really interesting polish. It looks much more vibrant in real life, more like in the macro shot below. It’s a metallic grey with gold flakes and gold holo microglitter. I found it to look quite metallic on, so if you’re not the biggest fan of that finish you may not like this one. Nevertheless it does apply easily – and without noticeable brush strokes, too. This one is inspired by the dark clothes the men wear when they hunt the Count. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
OCEANS OF TIME
Oceans of Time is a dark blue base with silver shimmer and silver flakes. I really like how the flakes look in this one. They’re quite delicate yet edgy and I think it matches the inspiration of Dracula’s blue lenses of the glasses he wears in London very well. Plus, it’s a bit different too in terms of the match up for a Dracula-inspired polish. My “original” idea would have been red or black. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
MINA
Finally we have Mina, a light mint holo with white sparks. In fact, I found this colour to be almost a neon pastel. If you’re a lover of green then you’ll think this is divine. Mina is inspired by the clothes of the character Wilhelmina Murray. It applied like butter but it does need to build up gradually, so I’d recommend thin coats. This is three coats with a top coat of Light Year.
Cost: Ranging from AU$10-$12 or US$9-$11 (with each polish discounted by 10% for the first 48 hours)
Volume: 12ml
Coats to opacity: See individual polish descriptions above
I’m a big fan of this collection – it’s surprisingly bright and cheerful for a collection inspired largely by a horror film. I’ve never actually watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula so I’m thinking I probably should now. If you can only get one from the collection I recommend The Devil’s Concubine, for sure! What’s you’re favourite from the collection? Let me know your thoughts below. Thanks for reading!
Good evening! Today I bring you a swag full of Celestial Cosmetics goodies; two LEs and also the new Celestial Cosmetics site exclusive that you can only buy at Celestial’s Australian store or international store. Also, you’ll notice in the pictures of the August LE 2016 my nail shape is different. I’ve gone a bit rounder as my nails just seemed to be breaking a lot more frequently than usual. For some reason rounder nails are stronger for me. Enjoy!
FIRST, LAST & ALWAYS
First, Last & Always is Celestial’s site exclusive and only available at the Australian store or the international store. It has a dark purple jelly base with gorgeous colour-shifting flakes that are simply amazing in any light (I mean, check out that macro!). Nicki, the make at Celestial, named the polish in honour of her late parents, which I think is a touching tribute. Nicki’s last collection, the We Breathe Fire Collection, also had a similar family back story, and I think it’s wonderful Nicki is able to channel her emotions into these stunning works of wearable art. I’m wearing three thin coats here with top coat, so you can see it builds up terrifically, but I’ve seen some swatches with just one coat over black or purple and that looks amazing, too. It’s really up to you on how to wear it!
The August LE 2016 is based on the flower gladiolus. How stunning is the inspo pic above? The photo was chosen by the Celestial Stars Facebook group. If you’re not a member I encourage you to join as there’s a lot going on in there! It’s a coral-orange base with some scattered holo, white sparks, gold flakes and iridescent microglitter. I’ve done two coats with a top coat, but I found it was still sightly bumpy so you’ll probably need to use two coats of top coat just in case.
The July LE 2016 is a stunning polish based on the waterlily. This is a must-have for all the purple fans out there. It has a scattered holo base with violet sparks, lavender flakes, purple
holo microglitter and gold flakes and microglitter. There’s a lot going on, but it translates quite smoothly onto the nail, with just two coats and a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat all you see here. I think this is my favourite Le from this year, with the April LE 2016 coming a close second.
Why hello! Today I bring you swatches and my thoughts on Celestial Cosmetics’ latest collection, the We Breathe Fire Collection, which also launched today. This collection has a beautiful origin story. It came about when Nicki (the mastermind behind Celestial) and her son got together to bring Nicki’s interest of dragons and her son’s favourite book series (the Inheritance Cycle) together. How lovely! I hope my son and I will work as collaboratively when he’s older. But, before I start, there’s good news for Celestial’s international fans – there’s a whole new international site with a whole new address: celestialcosmetics.com. It’s definitely worth checking out. Now let’s jump right in!
First up I wanted to show you some nail art I did with two of the polishes – Firnen and Thorn – because I’m so super proud of it. How I didn’t smudge the polish when I applied Thorn on top of Firnen I have no idea, but I so love this look! Really easy and all I used was some eBay nail tip guides and gold studs.
FIRNEN
Firnen is a forest green polish with a sprinkling of holo and green-gold colour-shifting flakes. I found it had a stunning blue overlay as well in some lighting. As you know, I’m not the biggest green nail polish fan (yes, I pretty much say this every time I wear a green polish) but Firnen is incredible. I love its depth and delicacy. So much so I used it for my nail art above, ha ha. In these swatches though I wore two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.
GLAEDR
Wow, Glaedr. This is my favourite from the collection. I really love its strong copper lean. It’s a linear holo with bronze flakes and holo orange microglitter. The microglitter in this is a bit bumpy so you’ll definitely need a top coat. The microglitter also a bit awkwardly noticeable in the sun – breaking up the linear look a bit – but it’s not disastrous. The formula on this one was the thickest from the collection for me and you need a steady hand when applying. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
THORN
As the name suggests, Thorn is a polish that packs a punch. It’s a dark purple linear holo with rose flakes and red sparks. To me it’s definitely more purple, but to others it’s a black base. The flame on Thorn is lovely and really makes it appear “softer” than what it is. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
JARNUNVOSK
Ah, Jarnunvosk. So very delicate and so very difficult to capture! It is a soft gold nude with gold flakes and shimmer, as well as the tiniest bit of holo. It’s a lot more delicate than what you see, that’s for sure! I love the gold flakes in this one, it really makes it a bit different. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
SAPHIRA
This is Saphira, a mid-tone blue linear holo with blue flakes. It’s close to purple for me in some lights and it’s a darling up close – you can see the teal really pop. This suits my interest in blue a lot – blue, but not too blue. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
SHRUIKAN
Last up is Shruikan. A black linear holo! Wowsers. Plus, it also has some freaking fantastic colour-shifting flakes. There are some lovely green flakes in there that I wish I could eat! The holo in this one is pretty incredible and I think it’s the first indie polish I have that’s a black holo. We need more of these, please! This is two coats with a top coat of Light Year.
Cost: AU$12 or US$11 (with each polish discounted by 10% for the first 48 hours of their release today!)
Volume: 12ml
Coats to opacity: See individual polish descriptions above
The formula on these were consistent, bar Glaedr that needed a little bit of extra care. Glaedr is still my favourite though, so don’t let that deter you if you like the look of it. This is a moody collection, but there’s a lot to love. Thanks for reading!
