Celestial Cosmetics Halloween Story Trio Collection

*Press sample

Me again – bringing you the second trio from Celestial Cosmetics in time for Halloween (the first being The Curse of Miss Ives Collection). The Halloween Story Trio Collection is named so because the three names of the polishes create a short story. These polishes are very Halloween appropriate, so if you love themed polishes, get comfy and read on!

SINISTER SQUASHLING

Celestial Cosmetics Halloween Story Trio Collection Sinister Squashling swatched by Dry, Dammit!

Sinister Squashling is a neon orange jelly with a gold overlay, colour-shifting sparks and black holo microglitter. It’s perfect for the base of pumpkins or even just on its own for the big day. It’s very bright and I’ve also learnt recently it glows under UV lighting. Awesome much? Formula was wonderful and what you see here is two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.

CHASES THE FAIRY

Celestial Cosmetics Halloween Story Trio Collection Chases The Fairy swatched by Dry, Dammit!

Chases The Fairy is a neon green jelly with black shred glitter. This one also reacts to UV light. In my pictures it looks like there’s a blue tinge to the colour but I think it’s just my camera not being able to handle the intensity of the neon green. Formula on this one was good too and the shred glitter played nicely. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

INTO THE BLOOD WOODS

Celestial Cosmetics Halloween Story Trio Collection Into The Blood Woods swatched by Dry, Dammit!

Into The Blood Woods is a teal-based jelly with cherry microglitter and rose gold flakes. This is my favourite from the trio as it’s so much more detailed than what you’d expect. The formula on this one is perfect but it did stain my nails so you’ll need to wear a good base coat underneath. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

Like The Curse of Miss Ives Collection, you can pick them up from tomorrow (25 September in Australia and 24 September at the international store). These are a lot of fun and I think there’s plenty to do with them come Halloween. Thanks for reading!

Celestial Cosmetics The Curse of Miss Ives Collection & September LE 2016

*Press sample

Hiya! Today I bring you one of the trios from Celestial Cosmetics in time for Halloween, as well as the September LE. The trio is called The Curse Of Miss Ives and is a collaboration between Nicki (the mastermind behind Celestial) and her social media maven, Jacq. I love the name of the trio, which is inspired by a character of the TV show Penny Dreadful named Vanessa Ives. The polishes are inspired by Vanessa’s costumes worn in the show.

The September LE 2016 is at the end, so read on for more!

Seance is a deep purple linear holo with gold shimmer. The formula on this one was truly fabulous – buttery and self-levelling. The gold really does stand out in person, so if you like gold polishes you’d probably really like this as a unique polish to add to your stash. This is my favourite from the collection; it’s such a stunner. Pictured is two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.

Little Scorpion is a black-based scattered holo with silver flakes and black holo microglitter. I love the intricate colours of this one up close! We need more black holos in our lives. Plus, the formula was smooth and easy, which is always a good thing. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

Demimonde is a soft grey linear holo. The grey is very faint and you’ll need to get a good light to see the holo. The formula on this one was a bit sheer (yet manageable) and you’ll most likely need three coats like me. This is three coats with a top coat of Light Year.

The September LE 2016 is based on the flower the morning glory (inspiration picture below). The picture was chosen in the Celestial’s Stars Facebook group; if you haven’t joined I recommend you do! It’s a lot of fun in there. Nicki used the centre of the flower for inspiration, which translated to a bright magenta pink holo base with purple, blue and indigo flakes. I love, love, love this polish! I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics September Oops polishes & COTM Chirp

*Press sample

Hiya! Today I have for you Femme Fatale Cosmetics September Oops polishes and colour of the month (COTM) polish. There’s some really nice shades here for you to take a peek at and later this month they’ll be available at the Femme Fatale Cosmetics US site, too, after a very successful sale with the Australian site at the beginning of the month (and in case you missed out!). Let’s see, shall we?

I wanted to start with my favourite, which is called Skills in Magic. It’s a warm burgundy crelly with shimmer and gold, copper and black glitter. I love the black glitter – you just don’t see enough of it around. This is two coats with a top coat of Seche.

Summer All Year Round is a soft peachy-pink-nude crelly with gold shimmer and microglitter. I did three thin coats with this one and in some lighting you can still see the nail line. I’ve topped it with Seche.

STARLA

Starla is a vibrant cool pink creme with blue overlay and scattered holo glitter – a bit of a difficult one to photograph, I found! This is two coats with a top coat of Seche.

Back in ’82 is a vibrant red-leaning coral, with hints of pink depending on the lighting. It has a golden shine overall with gold holo glitter. This one will look a bit “bumpy” once applied, but I don’t mind that. I’ve used two coats plus a top coat of Seche.

D-Qwon’s Dance Grooves is a dark teal jelly with a purple-blue overlay and gold holo glitter. Probably my second favourite from these Oops. This is two coats plus a top coat of Seche.

Hunting Wolverines in Alaska is a teal (cold) to clear (warm) thermal (similar to A Fortune Teller’s Charm from the After-Light Gala Collection). It has a red-pink overlay and silver and copper holo glitter. This is three coats plus a top coat of Seche.

Glamour Shots is a lavender creme with a satin gold sheen. The simplest of the Oops, but I think this one will suit anyone. I’ve used two coats plus a top coat of Seche.

CHIRP (SEPTEMBER COTM)

The COTM is Chirp (I love the name!). This one was the top-voted suggestion in the Fiends group on Facebook, which was: “Duochrome, periwinkle and lavender”.Β Chirp is a lavender creme with a blue overlay and scattered holo glitter. This was two coats with a top coat of Seche.

  • Cost: Unknown at this stage, but for the Australian store prices ranged from AU$8.50 to AU$10.50 excluding GST

So, as I mentioned above, the Australian sale for these has already occurred, but if you’re able to buy from the US store then these will be there soon.
