Why hello! Today I bring you swatches and my thoughts on Celestial Cosmetics’ latest collection, the We Breathe Fire Collection, which also launched today. This collection has a beautiful origin story. It came about when Nicki (the mastermind behind Celestial) and her son got together to bring Nicki’s interest of dragons and her son’s favourite book series (the Inheritance Cycle) together. How lovely! I hope my son and I will work as collaboratively when he’s older. But, before I start, there’s good news for Celestial’s international fans – there’s a whole new international site with a whole new address: celestialcosmetics.com. It’s definitely worth checking out. Now let’s jump right in!

First up I wanted to show you some nail art I did with two of the polishes – Firnen and Thorn – because I’m so super proud of it. How I didn’t smudge the polish when I applied Thorn on top of Firnen I have no idea, but I so love this look! Really easy and all I used was some eBay nail tip guides and gold studs.

FIRNEN

Firnen is a forest green polish with a sprinkling of holo and green-gold colour-shifting flakes. I found it had a stunning blue overlay as well in some lighting. As you know, I’m not the biggest green nail polish fan (yes, I pretty much say this every time I wear a green polish) but Firnen is incredible. I love its depth and delicacy. So much so I used it for my nail art above, ha ha. In these swatches though I wore two coats with a top coat of Celestial Cosmetics Light Year Quick Dry Top Coat.

GLAEDR

Wow, Glaedr. This is my favourite from the collection. I really love its strong copper lean. It’s a linear holo with bronze flakes and holo orange microglitter. The microglitter in this is a bit bumpy so you’ll definitely need a top coat. The microglitter also a bit awkwardly noticeable in the sun – breaking up the linear look a bit – but it’s not disastrous. The formula on this one was the thickest from the collection for me and you need a steady hand when applying. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

THORN

As the name suggests, Thorn is a polish that packs a punch. It’s a dark purple linear holo with rose flakes and red sparks. To me it’s definitely more purple, but to others it’s a black base. The flame on Thorn is lovely and really makes it appear “softer” than what it is. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

JARNUNVOSK

Ah, Jarnunvosk. So very delicate and so very difficult to capture! It is a soft gold nude with gold flakes and shimmer, as well as the tiniest bit of holo. It’s a lot more delicate than what you see, that’s for sure! I love the gold flakes in this one, it really makes it a bit different. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

SAPHIRA

This is Saphira, a mid-tone blue linear holo with blue flakes. It’s close to purple for me in some lights and it’s a darling up close – you can see the teal really pop. This suits my interest in blue a lot – blue, but not too blue. I’m wearing two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

SHRUIKAN

Last up is Shruikan. A black linear holo! Wowsers. Plus, it also has some freaking fantastic colour-shifting flakes. There are some lovely green flakes in there that I wish I could eat! The holo in this one is pretty incredible and I think it’s the first indie polish I have that’s a black holo. We need more of these, please! This is two coats with a top coat of Light Year.

DETAILS

The formula on these were consistent, bar Glaedr that needed a little bit of extra care. Glaedr is still my favourite though, so don’t let that deter you if you like the look of it. This is a moody collection, but there’s a lot to love. Thanks for reading!
