Hiya! Tonight I bring you a post that has been in the making for a few months now – the Born Pretty Store clear jelly stamper in purple. I say it’s been in the making for a few months because as soon as I got it for review from Born Pretty Store it’s become my go-to stamper. Sure, the tube isn’t clear, but for me that’s no biggie. The impressive feature of the stamper for me is its squishiness and purpleness (as a huge purple fan!). Read on for more!
So, as you can see from the pictures above, this jelly stamper picks up images pretty well. I was totally skeptical when I received the stamper, so to actually have photographic evidence it picks up images is incredible to me. Although I will admit it does struggle with finer images. With those you’re either really lucky or it simply doesn’t pick up. 😐 Which may come down to how the stamper head is primed. Yes, you do have to prime it (well, I did anyway). I washed it in dishwashing detergent and warm water and then used my nail file to gently rub the surface of the stamper head a bit. Once I had done that it was good to go for me. I would recommend you try washing in dishwashing detergent first and then stamping before going to the nail file as I found this made the stamper head a bit cloudy.
As you can see in my pictures, I’ve made a few scrapes to the stamper head. So a warning – be very careful! It’s quite sensitive and since it’s so squishy, once it’s “attacked” it’ll seem to totally crumble away in the area affected. Luckily for me that was only one or two spots. I really liked the squishiness of the stamper head and even with my huge C-curve nails it had no problem wrapping around it quickly and efficiently. I found it was easier to figure out where you wanted the image placed (by looking down the tube) and then smooshing right into your nail – not rolling from one side to another as you would do with a harder stamper head.
The stamper also comes with a purple plastic scraper. I didn’t used this as I used some former plastic gift cards to scrape with, but from sight it does look like it would do the job without damaging the plate you were working with.
To stamp with I used Konad White Special Nail Polish over the top of Femme Fatale Cosmetics Poisoned Apple. The plate I used was one I received free from Emily de Molly in my last order as it was slightly damaged. I love the combination!
