Happy May Day! We don’t commemorate it in the state of Australia I live in, but I know other states and countries do, so it’s nice to mention it, I thought. Plus, who doesn’t like a good rhyme?

Anywho, today I bring you some Born Pretty Store sticker stencils I was sent for review. In the following photos I am so sorry about my dry fingers! Usually I put a handcream on before taking photos but I was in a rush… you know the drill.

I actually really like the idea behind these stickers; kind of like a vinyl but without having to add nail polish. The thing I found difficult was trimming the edges. The stickers are generously sized so you have to use nail scissors to cut them to your nail shape. They stick down fine, but only for an hour or so, so you have to add top coat (or at least I did) if you really want the stickers to stay down. When I added top coat the majority of the sticker adhered well, but over time the sides of the stickers would pop out, become a bit spiky and create a heavy, unpleasant feeling on my nails. It’s why I would suggest to use these stickers for special occasions only; not as everyday wear. Still, I have read other reviews that show people using the stickers as a vinyl. Obviously you could do that, but (although I haven’t shown it very well) these stickers are holographic, so I feel that would be a waste and you’d be better off just using vinyls that aren’t as sticky.

The sheet of stickers you get comes with 12 stickers, which means just one use, really (for both hands). However, if your nails are small, you could get away with doing two per sticker – the stickers are that big! I tried doing that with my pinky and my index finger. It worked quite well. As a base I used Glam Polish Unicorn Sparkles! that is definitely an oldie but a goodie polish to wear and I liked the detail of it you could see peeking out under the sticker.

Also, although I’m doing a bad job of representing it in the post, the holo effect is really pretty.
