Today is the eve of Celestial Cosmetics’ third birthday, which is no better time to show you my swatches of Celestial’s latest release. It’s Celestial’s third Game of Thrones-inspired collection, this time called The Valyrio Collection (I’ve swatched Game of Thrones Collection here). It’s a collaboration with nail blogger Christine from Serenity Nails and features six polishes; three duochromes and three holos with names inspired by the Valyria language used throughout the books and TV show. I was also lucky in that I recently got my new Canon macro lens in the mail, so I have some macros of these polishes, too! (Although I have to get used to taking macros with one hand as the lens is super heavy!). Take a look.

I’m going to start with my favourite from the collection: Dracarys (meaning “Dragon fire”). This is a wonderfully warm red linear holo with red microglitter. It’s a stunning polish on and I’m super impressed with how the red microglitter adds a bit more depth to it. I’m wearing it with two coats and no top coat and I didn’t find it gritty at all.

Kirimvos was a polish I wasn’t sure if I would like, but once on the nail, wowsers! It’s a bright minty-turquoise green linear holo with opal flakies. It means “Thank you”. The inclusion of the opal flakies reminds me of reptile skin – in a good way! Again, another polish that has a lot of depth. I’m wearing two coats without top coat.

Sesir Kipi means “And now, we ride”. I quite like this; as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of a midnight blue, so the name goes nicely with the thought of riding into the night. This is a deep blue linear holo with a crisp silver-green flame. I’m wearing two coats without top coat.

Kastamiro Damior (meaning “Rains of Castamere”) looked like it was going to be some kind of blurple duochrome in the bottle, but when on the nail, it moves from blue to teal to green. I hardly saw any purple at all, but perhaps I didn’t have the right sunlight? This formula has a slightly thinner consistency than the others in the collection, so when applying it you either need to do lots of thin coats or a couple of thick coats. I chose to do two thick coats without top coat.

This stunner is Lilagon, which means “To dance”. It’s another complex duochrome with a strong woody green base that changes ever so slowly over to gold in the right light. I’m wearing two coats without top coat.

Last but not least we have Daria Zaldrizoti that means “The Dragon Queen”. This is a classic red to pink duochrome and it’s got the most lovely glow in the sun. There have been some comparisons of this polish and another of Celestial’s polishes called Mother of Dragons from Nicki’s first Game of Thrones collection. I suggest you Google it to see what you think. I hear they’re quite similar, but different, too! This is two coats without top coat.

DETAILS

So there you go, another outstanding collection from Celestial Cosmetics. It really has been such fun bringing you Celestial’s new collections for the past 10 months or so and I’d like to again thank Nicki for asking to work with me and congratulate her on her third year of Celestial. Happy birthday, Celestial Cosmetics! Thanks for reading!

  1. I just “discovered” your blog and I absolutely love it!!! Your pics are so awesome (BTW what do you use to do the close-ups of your nails? meaning the shots without the bottles)! And the name is hilariously the same I think when I paint my nails! So happy to follow you! β™₯

    • Aww thank you so much, that’s so lovely to hear. I use a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro USM lens to take the close-ups of my nails, which I just bought recently and am loving.

Please leave a comment! I read every one and always reply.
