Hiya! I’ve got another collection from Celestial Cosmetics to show you tonight, which has been inspired by Tim Burton’s film adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The collection is aptly called The Chocolate Factory and is launching this Friday, August 28 at 3pm ACST. I also wanted to try some nail art with the polishes so at the end of the post you’ll see another blobbicure look! My first attempt can be seen here. Enjoy reading about the collection!
I want to start with the most unusual colour of the collection, Winner 5/5. It’s inspired by Charlie’s winning golden ticket. It’s a soft brown/golden linear holo that has a beautiful blue shimmer overlay, which I tried to capture, but it just wouldn’t come out to full effect on camera, even indoors! This is three thin coats with no top coat. Although I required three coats, the polish was very smooth to apply.
YOU CAN EAT THE GRASS?
You Can Eat The Grass? is a bright green linear holo with green shimmer inspired by the edible grass in the chocolate river room. This is a really pretty green and while it’s bright, it’s not fluro, which is nice. This is two coats with no top coat. A lovely buttery formula.
Chocolate River is a brown linear holo, inspired by (as the name suggests) the river of chocolate. This is a gorgeous, true-to-looking-like-chocolate shade, and I’m not a lover of browns. What you see is two coats with no top coat. Once again, a buttery formula.
I’m so glad Oompas was part of this collection – it’s a vibrant red scattered holo with red sparks that just dance when in the sun. This polish is inspired by the Oompa Loompas’ red costumes. I’m wearing two coats without top coat and once again this formula was a dream to work with.
Ah, Candy Boat. This is a real bubblegum pink linear holo, which leans to purple, and is inspired by the boat the characters ride on the chocolate river. I’m wearing two coats with no top coat and yes, the formula was wonderful.
THE VELVET JACKET
Be still my beating heart! I love The Velvet Jacket a lot. It’s a dark berry linear holo with a hint of red that is just so deep and moody to me. It’s inspired by Willy Wonka’s velvet jacket – how original is that? The formula on this was divine and could easily be a one-coater, but I did two coats anyway (no top coat).
EYE ON THE PRIZE
He he, the name of this polish is so apt! Eye On The Prize is a bright blue linear holo with blue sparks and is inspired by Violet Beauregarde turning into a blueberry after eating the three-course-meal chewing gum. This is two coats without top coat and again, a wonderful formula to work with. I found this colour to be close to On Your Left from Celestial’s Avenge the Earth Collection, but Eye On The Prize is much brighter and has a less foil-like finish.
Now, onto the blobbicure. I used a base of Eye On The Prize and then blobbed Winner 5/5 on top – pretty simple, really! I found these polishes complemented each other due to their similar blue colourings. In fact, in the indoor pictures below you can kind of get the idea of the blue shimmer overlay I wrote about in the description of Winner 5/5.
