Hello! I recently heard about a collaboration collection between Face of Australia and Miss Universe Australia (yes, the pageant) and I knew I would be interested in some of its polishes. Altogether there are 16 polishes to choose from in three finishes: cremes, glitter toppers and a clear top coat. Today I’ve got four to show you that I recently bought from my local Big W, the only shop I’ve seen them at even though apparently they’re meant to be available at Priceline, too.
NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE
I love this polish but I hate its name, I just find it so sexist. In the bottle, this has a gorgeous pink shimmer but it didn’t translate onto the nail for me. Instead, I found this to be a really wearable pink creme that complimented my skin tone. The formula is a bit sheer but it does build up nicely and what you see here is three coats with a top coat of Seche.
SHOW ‘EM YOUR SPARKLE!
Show ‘Em Your Sparkle! is one of the glitter toppers. It’s made up of tiny multi-coloured glitter (kinda iridescent, but kinda not, if that makes sense!) in a pink base. In the bottle it looks really dense and the base colour brighter than what it appears on the nail, so I would recommend wearing undies with this one. What you see here is one dabbed coat over Not Just A Pretty Face with a top coat of Seche. My bottle is incorrectly labelled as It’s My Universe, another one of the glitter toppers.
DON’T JUDGE ME!
Don’t Judge Me! is a black creme. It was almost a one-coater for me, but I found the formula to be a bit too thin. It’s got a lovely shine to it and what you see here is two coats without top coat. I stuffed up my ring finger a bit so that’s why is looks a little bumpy.
Miss Congeniality is a wonderful white creme. If you’re better at applying nail polish than me, you could get away with this as a one-coater, as it’s got the formula and consistency to to achieve that, but I found it a bit streaky at one coat. What you see here is two coats with a top coat of Seche. I’ve read a few reviews saying this would be good for nail art and I’m assuming by that they mean stamping, but I’m not too sure as I haven’t tried. It would be great if true though!
- Where to buy: Big W (I bought mine at Channel Court, Kingston)
- Cost: AU$4

I couldn’t help but try and do some nail art with Don’t Judge Me! and Miss Congeniality. So I decided to do a negative space design. Sorry about how crappy these pictures are with the light glare. I had the wrong setting selected on my camera and I only realised how bad it was when I was editing.
Overall, I enjoyed these polishes and I think I’ll pick up a couple more. There was a red and coral I thought looked pretty but I probably wouldn’t buy all 16. I don’t like how some of them have white lids and some have black lids, I think I would prefer one or the other. Also, I’m pretty sure the brush is attached the square lid. I tried to pull the lid away from the brush but it wouldn’t budge. Not a problem if you’re used to applying polish, but for the casual user it might be tricky dealing with the square lid as an applicator. What do you think? Thanks for reading!
