My first ever gradient nail art

Hiya! So, I have a confession: Apart from my Sally Hansen Sugar Coat gradient nails I’ve never actually been successful at a gradient before. I think for me it was because I didn’t realise that a) You need a base colour and b) You need to sponge the colour on repeatedly, rather than just once. I know, I know, silly! But now I’ve actually given it a good try and I’m quite happy with the outcome; I think it’s perfect for this time of year, even if the weather doesn’t agree with me.

The colours I used were from ulta3’s Candy Couture polishes: Lemon Drop (yellow), Fairy Floss (pink) and Peach Pie (orange). It’s a bit Halloween-esque (candy corn) so maybe my subconscious was wanting Halloween to not stop with my evil clown nail art, hey? Of course, I had to fiddle with it after a few days so I added OPI Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat from the 2013 Mariah Carey Christmas Collection and a matte top coat. I really like how it turned out! Quite subtle I think.

I’m really looking forward to doing another lot of gradient nails, maybe with darker colours. That could be challenging though due to the clean-up involved. What do you think? Thanks for reading!

  1. Its cool when you finally work out how to do something. I think your gradient worked out really well. And I love your final mani. Aren’t ulta 3 just the best bargain ever.

  2. This looks gorgeous. I love that topper!

  3. Wow it looks really good after you added the top coats!

  4. It looks so summery! And I love that white good and silver top coat. Now I feel like I need a large glass of pink lemonade by the beach πŸ˜€
