Evil clown nails Halloween nail art

*Nothing to disclose

Hiya! For ages now I have been wanting to do some kind of Halloween nail art and I figured I should get something in quickly before Halloween. The problem for me was, there are just so many great Halloween-themed designs out there I didn’t know what to do without really doing what had already been done, if you know what I mean. And I wanted to do something a bit different as there are only so many pumpkins and spiders that can be done uniquely, I think. So I thought, if I actually were dressing up for Halloween, what would I dress as? An evil clown of course – I especially dislike clowns! I don’t know, they all just look so freaky to me.

The end result was some “evil clowns” that look kinda evil, but not overly, however I still had a lot of fun creating them. I wanted to keep the design as simple as possible – minimal colours, details etc so if somebody took any inspiration from them it would be easy to recreate. It’s one time I wished my top coat had smeared the colours underneath more when I put it on – so as to create a streaky, make-up running effect – but oh well. I just used a red polish and its normal brush and my BYS nail striper in black for the eyebrows, eyes and mouth. Underneath is a white polish in a sort of semi-circle look, I’m not sure what to call it, an inversed half moon?

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out overall, but if I did it again I would probably put more detail in the mouth – maybe give them some sharp teeth? Or just do what I had to do on my pinky – just have a nose and eyes peeping out.

So, are you going to be doing any Halloween nail art? Got any thrilling plans? Apart from it falling on a Friday, which is great anyway, I don’t really celebrate it, where I live it hasn’t seemed to pick up in popularity. Thanks for reading!

  1. I love that you went the unique route, and pumpkins have definitely been done. Clowns are SO creepy, definitely a great choice. I think these maybe look more menacing than evil, which I mean in a good way that makes sense 🙂

    • I get what you mean completely. I had considered doing an accent nail of some gory knife but to be honest, that gore isn’t really me so I stuck with all clowns.

  2. I think you did really well to make the clowns just scarey enough. They’re very striking well done.
