Revlon Rio Rush Collection: Oi Beautiful, Carioca Crush, Copa Sunset & Gold Goddess

Hello hello! Tonight I’m bringing you a collection I’ve wanted ever since it came out, but since Revlon is so expensive in Australia, I just never bought it. It’s the Rio Rush Collection by famous make-up artist Gucci Westman. Recently my local Priceline had a ridiculous clearance sale and these polishes were just AU$.99 each. For AU$3.96 for the whole collection – how could I not buy them all? It’s cheaper than a coffee. In Australia these polishes were released in the middle of winter – I’m sure to coincide with the World Cup – but they just didn’t sell. In the northern hemisphere it would have been perfect timing, but people usually stay away from bright colours in winter – and these colours are very summery.

Oi Beautiful is a true purple creme – in fact, all the polishes but Gold Goddess are cremes. It’s got a wonderful pigmentation and it could be a one-coater, but here I’ve done two with Seche. On my ring and pinky fingers I’ve done one dabbed coat of Gold Goddess to show you what it looks like. I think the combo is quite nice.

Carioca Crush is a bright dark blue creme (does that make sense?) and while I did two coats with top coat, I think I could have used a third. It was quite a good blue for my skin tone, but it’s my least favourite of the collection. And a major warning – this polish stains. Bad. So remember a good base coat and try not to hit your cuticles like I did so your fingers look blue. Again, Gold Goddess is on my ring and pinky fingers. Another good pairing.

Copa Sunset

Copa Sunset is my favourite creme from the collection. I wouldn’t call it coral, but it’s definitely an orange-leaning red. It’s slightly sheer so I’ve done three coats with Seche. This best paired with Gold Goddess (on pinky and ring fingers).

This is a great glitter top coat; the glitter pieces are tight and it’s quite subtle on the nail in some cases. I read a few reviews that said it was thick and a bit goopy, but I found my bottle to be quite smooth. The only issue I had was if you didn’t roll the bottle before you used it, some of the polish would settle at the base and be difficult to get on the brush. The glitter pieces are small and manageable and sit flat on the nail with no sticky-uppy bits. On my pinky and ring fingers I’ve done one dabbed coat over black and on the other fingers, one dabbed coat over white.

DETAILS

  • Where to buy: Priceline and Target
  • Cost: AU$16.95 each (I got mine for just AU$.99 each! Woo!)
  • Volume: 14.7ml

I really, really like this collection. I know it’s just basic cremes but the colours are perfect for summer and each is a slight twist on standard summer colours. Plus Gold Goddess is a great topper. What do you think? Thanks for reading!

  1. These colours are so pretty! I love the glossy creme finishes and that topper is just gorgeous!!
I wish that collection was on sale here too, but it’s still at its regular price ($15 a pop)…

    • Yes, it’s a pain in the butt! Interestingly, only my local shop I buy from had them on clearance, other shops in the chain I’ve been too still have them at full price as well. I never understand why that is, how one shop in a chain can clear certain items but another doesn’t. The topper is the one I would get if I were to just get one.

  2. Ooh, I love the gold over Oi Beautiful and Copa Sunset! Super pretty πŸ™‚
