Hello! Tonight I have three swatches to show you of some Savvy by DB polishes; in one of my initial ventures to Priceline when I arrived back in Australia I noticed the Savvy by DB polish stand had completely changed. It’s no longer got a mish-mash of polishes, there’s (I think) 12 new colours all with a summer theme, obviously to match the season. These are the ones that took my fancy.

Surfer Girl

What you see here is two coats with Seche on top. A lovely pigmented creme, you could probably get away with one coat if you weren’t in the habit of doing two like me. It’s purple-leaning pink I think, but I’m willing to hear what you think. This was very easy to apply.

Cruise

A pale blue creme; this is two coats with a top coat of Seche. Again, you could get away with one coat. Application was just as easy as Surfer Girl.

Under the Sea

This is a lovely light blue shimmer with pink, purple and blue flecks that is best seen in the sun. What you see is two coats with Seche, while on my ring finger is two coats over one coat of Cruise with Seche. I think I definitely prefer this polish over Cruise rather than on its own.

Now, a note on the brushes. I’m not sure if they’re designed this way or it’s just dodgy manufacturing, but I found with both Surfer Girl and Cruise the brushes were cut to an angle. This is fine for someone who is confident in polishing, I didn’t find it too much of a problem for example, but I think for a casual polisher it might seem a bit daunting and difficult. And then, the brush on Under the Sea was super thick! So maybe check that out before you buy. Below is a photo of the different brushes, see for yourself.

  1. That is odd about the brushes. Being a ‘homebrand’ I’m inclined to think its due to bad manufacturing than design. Still, the colours are really nice, and Under the Sea looks so good over Cruise. Considering the price, they seem like pretty good polishes. They’re actually cheaper than most bottles of water!

    • I know what you mean about the water! I bought a coffee today for AU$4.20 and it was terrible, there was sugar in it when I didn’t even ask for it, and I thought to myself I could have bought a polish for cheaper than that!

  2. I really like Cruise. Never would have imagined you’d get such a beautiful, pale colour in only 2 coats! I’m going to try and get hold of some

  3. I have a couple and I find the brushes a bit scratchy and they always have at least 3-4 bent fibres sticking out all over the place. But, I like the pink you got!

  4. I love the way Surfer Girl looks IRL, slightly blue-based, a true Barbie pink!
