Nephew’s first birthday nail art

Hello! It’s my nephew’s first birthday this week so I took some time out to do birthday nails based on him. I am not disappointed with how it turned out, but I am also not over the moon either. For some reason on my thumb and little finger I thought it would be a good idea to put on OPI Get Your Number… but the textured look is just a massive clash I’m afraid. Oh well, lesson learnt, so let’s just concentrate on my other nails, shall we?

So, on the index finger we have a baby complete with blushed cheeks and a red hair curl (Alec, my nephew, has the most beautiful red hair). It doesn’t look like much of an curl though, hey!? I need a thinner striper brush; my trusty eBay one is just too thick. Either that or I need to learn to use it better. On the middle finger is a birthday cake with a single candle to represent the first birthday. And on the ring finger is a blue balloon. That is not so symbolic; it’s just a balloon.

Now I also thought it would be a good idea to just paint the design straight onto my nails instead of putting down a colour first. Looking at it now it probably wouldn’t be a problem if my nails weren’t so stained but because they are I should have probably put a sheer nude coat on first. Again, lesson learnt! So please forgive that as well.

I used a heap of polishes so here they all are:

  • Revlon All Fired Up (red)
  • Maybelline Party Blue (blue)
  • Ulta3 Tangerine Tango (orange)
  • Revlon Steamy Affair (“Steamy” side in beige)
  • Max Factor Cactus Green (green)
  • Models Prefer No Angel (white)
  • Kiss Nail Art Paint Black (nail striper in black)
  • I made the pink cheeks by combining the red and white polishes

So this is my little tribute to my nephew for his first birthday. Of course, he will get a real life present, too! And lots of cuddles. Thanks for reading!

  1. Happy birthday Alec! Your nails look great, though I understand what you mean about using a smaller striping brush. It’s so much easier to just go back over if there isn’t enough polish, but using a larger striper, you can’t always get the control.

  2. Happy birthday Alec!! What awesome nails do celebrate with!! What nails will you do for my big 30??

  3. So cute, I especially love the cake nail πŸ™‚

I need a thinner striping brush too, or I need to cut one down πŸ™‚

  4. What a very adorable nail art for the adorable nephew! Happy Belated Birthday to Alec! Hmm, btw.. I think OPI Get Your Number didn’t clash too much as the blue is linkable with the blue balloon. So in a way, it still work out wonderfully πŸ™‚ Great job!! β™₯

    • Thank you. Alec had a great day at his birthday party! It was all very cute. In regards to OPI Get Your Number, I remember when I first wore it, it was much lighter, more of the colour of the balloon, which is why I put it on. But then it was a bit darker than I thought and to me it seemed out of place, but it was tolerable.

  5. So cute!

Please leave a comment! I read every one and always reply.
