Hello! Today I bring you a polish from Maybelline’s Color Show Collection, which I’ve had for a while now but just never worn for some reason, even though it’s the only black and gold combo polish I own. Twilight Rays is a black crelly base with pieces of flaky gold shimmer. It’s not what I would call a glitter; it’s more like there’s flakes in it. When in the right light the flakes lean a bit green, which is a nice surprise. I’m not sure how well I captured that in my photos.
This is just two coats. As you can see, even though it’s a crelly base it builds up quite nicely to opacity. I really like too how the sizes of the flakes are different, they’re not all uniform. I think that makes this polish a little different to the other polishes of the Color Show Collection, which I’ve found to be really stock standard and honestly, a little boring.
I found removal to be very easy, I did the foil method just in case but I don’t think you would have to, actually. The formula was a bit watery, which has been my experience with all my Maybellines, but once a second coat is on top it’s all fine. The brush was a little difficult to work with as it’s just so darn thin. While I put a top coat on, I found the next day as I was wearing it some of the tips were quite worn. I’m assuming this is because of the polish’s watery consistency.

I wish Maybelline would bring some of its other Color Show polishes out in Australia as I really want to try the range of polka dot polishes. There are so many beautiful pictures of these floating about the internet. 😦 We will wait and see. Thanks for reading!
