Evening! Today I have day two of The Cuteberry Nail Challenge to show you. Its theme is your favourite drink or cocktail. I wasn’t actually sure what to do, seeing as I don’t have a favourite drink really, but I settled with doing something to do with coffee as I drink it almost every day.
I found out two things doing this challenge. 1. I don’t have a lot of brown polishes (I think two in fact!) and 2. I still find freehand nail art very very difficult. But first, I will show you Cocoa, which I used as the base for my coffee nails.
Cocoa is from Ulta3’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection and is a deep shimmery brown. It’s a really lovely winter polish, very warm, which is why it was probably released in an autumn/winter collection.
I used two coats for what you see here, and I have to say, the formula was really lovely and thick, but manageable if that makes sense.
- Where to buy: Terry White Chemists, Good Price Pharmacy Warehouse
- Cost: AU$2.00
- Volume: 13ml
- Coats to opacity: Two
And now on to the coffee nails!
So, yeah, as you can see this is my attempt at little coffee cups. I used a combination of dotting tools and nail art brushes to create the design, but I have to say, I need better nail art brushes! Mine are just cheapies from eBay.
Eh. Sorry about the messy cuticle clean-up on my thumb! To create the coffee cups I used Ulta3 Lily White and dabbed it on with a nail art brush in the general shape of a coffee cup. I then used Models Prefer Little Black Dress and made an outline of the coffee cup to give it a bit more definition. Looking at it now, I think I should have an off-white colour for the cup instead of such a stark white.
So, overall I am happy with the look but I do think I need to work on my freehand style more. Day three of the challenge is superhero, which I think will be a lot of fun, and I will have that to you either this weekend of the beginning of next week. Thanks for reading!
