Hello. Tonight I have to show you a Sportsgirl Nail It! I Art Nails! 3 in 1 DIY Nail Pen. It doesn’t have a name, so I haven’t bothered to name it, but the one I’m showing you is blue, so I’ll just call it blue nail art pen, ha ha. The pack came with two pens, one blue and one purple/blue, but my post today just focuses on the blue pen.

Pen sets like these are a good idea. The 3 in 1 refers to the fact it has a brush for the nail polish, a pen where you can squeeze the tube where the nail polish is and just apply the polish straight to the nail and the end bit has a whole section of coloured rhinestones, in this case in blue. I bought this at the beginning of the year, so I’ve had it for a while now, and at the time it was the only one like it I had seen. I’ve now seen other brands such as Manicare release sets like this.

This is the brush. It’s a really nice brush, can’t complain. Smooth and easy application.

Here is the pen. Again, can’t complain. The glitter comes out nice and evenly. I should say while the glitter looks really dense, it’s actually not once applied to the nail, but you will see that below on my nails.

So here is the design I did using the brush for the large chunks of glitter, the pen for the lines of glitter and the rhinestones on the ring finger (and thumb in the next picture). I used one coat of Sinful Colors Savage as a base, which dries matte, so I applied a matte top coat to it.

I have to say, I hated wearing this! As soon as I put it on I wanted it off. I don’t think this was because of the colour or the glitter, I think it was because of the rhinestones. I just think they’re so ugly. The top coat held them in perfectly, but I couldn’t help but fiddle with them all the time when I wore them, they were just so annoying. I’m not sure this is the case with all rhinestones, these are the only I have used, but these were really high on the nail and just stuck out too much for my liking. I ended up ripping off the rhinestones as I was driving home from work!

Hmm, I feel like this is a pretty crappy review of the nail art pen. But to be honest, you could take it or leave it I think. The rhinestones I definitely don’t think I will use again, they were simply too annoying and a bit cheap looking, actually. You can’t see it in the pictures but there’s a little ‘bit’ on the side of the rhinestones where I think they have been cut off from a holder or something.

So, what do you think? have you tried one of these 3in 1 nail art pens before? Let me know. Thanks for reading!

  1. Whilst this looks great, I TOTALLY understand about the rhinestones. Curling glitter bugs me enough, I think the big rhinestones would have me going crazy! I think the pen is great if you want that effect, and it’s always nice that there is variety out there. But no rhinestones πŸ˜‰
