Dry, Dammit!

A nail blog by an impatient polisher

Face of Australia Boogie Wonderland

*Nothing to disclose

Hello! Today’s nail polish is from Face of Australia’s brand new limited edition Glitterati Collection. It’s called Boogie Wonderland and purple-grey base with multi-colour hex glitters and some larger holographic glitter, as well as blue, green and white bar glitters. I wore three coats over one coat of Ulta3 Lily White so it’s got more of a white tinge going on, but just wearing it by itself I found it was too sheer and I’m not too keen on sheer glitters.

So, as you can probably tell from the picture, the bar glitters in this formula are curled. How is it that even the big cosmetic companies can produce nail polish with curling glitter? While I actually don’t mind the look of the curled glitter – I think it looks more playful – I do mind that I couldn’t smooth it over properly with top coat. Some of the bar glitters stuck up through the top coat and were scratchy; it’s just not a nice feeling when you expect smooth nails.

I have spotted all of the Glitterati Collection at Priceline and I have to say, it looks pretty good. There are three glitters in coloured bases, Boogie Wonderland being one of them, and the rest are glitters in clear bases. I purchased all of the glitters in the coloured bases straight away as I found them most interesting, but then I stumbled upon a lonely two left at a Kmart so I grabbed them – for AU75c each! How is that possible when at Priceline they are AU$4.95 each? I don’t get it. I haven’t noticed any dramatic curling on any of the other glitters from when I have swatched them, but that may be different when I put them on my nails.

The formula was really good, apart from the curling bar glitters, and I have to admit I spent a lot of my day staring at my nails! It’s just a really pretty polish, regardless of the curling. Below is a picture that shows its true bottle colour, rather than what is on my nails. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a really pretty polish.

  • Where to buy: Priceline or Kmart
  • Cost: AU$4.95 (but I got two at Kmart for AU75c!)
  • Volume: 13ml
  • Coats to opacity: It’s sheer, so I would recommend wearing 2-3 coats over a colour

This weekend I plan to bring you the rest of the Face of Australia Glitterati Collection I have (I’m even considering buying the three that I don’t own just to make the set, mwahahaha) so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Would you wear this polish with the curling glitter? I have a feeling that it will put some polishers off. Thanks for reading!

  1. This would be my favorite!! I love it on the whiter back ground. I’d wear it with the curly glitter, however putting gloves off and on I’d imagine the glitter getting hooked and torn off :-/

  2. It looks fantastic. I’ve not seen the curling one before, but I really like it. And I’m glad to hear that top coat smoothed everything out. Was clumping a problem at all?
