China Glaze Material Girl

Today we’re going back in time to 2011 when China Glaze released its Eye Candy Collection. Material Girl is what is called a ‘3D glitter’ where I think the glitter is meant to pop more on the nail. It has a clear base with small and medium pink glitters. There’s also some larger holographic hexes and I think this is what gives it that 3D look. Also this collection is awesome because it’s inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

I am definitely getting more and more into glitter nail polishes. I used to really not like them because I thought they were a bit kiddy, but now I don’t seem to care. Material Girl is another of my blog sale purchases and when I saw it I knew I had to have it as I’m really wanting all of the Eye Candy Collection.

Application of this polish was surprisingly easy for a dense glitter, but it did take me three coats. This is a very top coat hungry polish and if you can get away with wearing Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat without shrinkage, then I would recommend wearing that. I used two coats of Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat and it still felt bumpy.

In regards to removal, I found Material Girl to come off perfectly with the foil method. And I only waited a couple of minutes.

DETAILS

  • Where to buy: Blog sales, eBay, stores that sell China Glaze… err, sorry I couldn’t be more specific! Not anywhere in Tasmania I have found, anyway
  • Cost: I got mine for AU$3 at a blog sale but obviously it ranges
  • Volume: 14ml
  • Coats to opacity: Three

So, what do you think of the 3D glitter look? Or even glitter polishes in general? Thanks for reading!

  1. Gorgeous colour. It kinda makes me think of champagne, though it probably doesn’t make sense. Really lovely though.

Please leave a comment! I read every one and always reply.
